the president doesnt control who owns the ports!!!!!!!!!
a european company owned them before, now they are selling them to a company from UAE, but which has big ties to the UAE government

The 90% was just an example of how I see it. Not an actual number.
If the President didn't know anything about it until 2 days ago, why would he be so dead set on veto'ing any block of the takeover? If he doesn't know much about it than why would he feel so strongly. That's what I want to know.

They rejected accusations that opponents were discriminating against an Arab company, although the British firm it's buying out had drawn no criticism.

the phrase "government by the people" doesnt mean that the president or congress should take a poll before they vote or make any decisions.
what it means is that if the people do not like the way someone or a party is running things they can vote them out of office in the next election.
repeat, it does not mean they have to take a poll before making decisions to see what the majority of people want

Your acting like the US government has no say in what happens to US ports. The Bush admistration approved selling the ports to the Arabs.
President Bush said on Tuesday he will veto any congressional effort to keep an Arab company from taking over Philadelphia's port.

they do have a say, but to exercise that say they have to interfer with our capatalistic system to do it.
to stop them (a company from UAE, a friendly Arab nation) from buying the ports would to me definatly be a inteference by big government

He doesn't have to take a poll before he does everything, but in theory he is supposed to follow what the country wants. For the people, by the people means the people control the whole thing, and he is our representative. We don't elect people so they can use thier personal agenda to ---- us over until we decide we don't like it. That was a stupid explanation.

bush being so dead set on vetoing this makes it pretty obvious that there's gotta be something going on. He's just saying ---- you to everyone, I've got my own ---- to deal with while I'm in office so I can be rich when I'm impeached. Anybody ever watch farenheit 9/11 with an open mind? Most of those things make sense.
