first movie i dled 4.3gig dvd iso burned onto dvd wouldnt play in the dvd player.. or the ps2.. or in the computer i burned it on.. not even when i virtually mounted the iso...

2nd movie i dled was in a different format.. 4.2gigs.. a bunch of dvd menu files and the actual videos themselves

in .bup .ifo and .vob files...


didnt work in the ps2.. or the dvd player.. but worked fine in my pc...

What program are you using to burn the movies? I only burn iso images with alcohol 120, it works flawless. You can also use nero but i occasionally had problems with it. Also make sure your downloading ntsc (usa format) unless of course you have a region free player that can handle pal formats.

i just got told that its because i used a dvd+r? when ur sposed to use a dvd-r??

some ---- supposedly works better with dvd-r or dvd+r. A magazine did a comparison years back and said the dvd+r was compatible with more crap, but to be honest I've never encountered anything that won't work with both formats.

For the ifo/bup/vob files: Go to nero burning rom, ---- the start smart ----, just go to nero burning rom program. On the left side where you choose the compilation type, change the dropdown menu to "dvd" then find "dvd video." Now drag and drop all those files into "ts_video" and burn the disc, it *should* work on everything.

As far as ISO, yeah you should be able to just burn and go. You sure it's a good torrent? I think VLC Media player will play straight from ISO files (although I'm not 100% sure).

get alcohol 120% off a torrent site somewhere. DVD+R or -r rarely makes a difference unless its a super cheap dvd player (I've been selling movies for along time, always use +r. Reason is after selling -r for like 8 months i had one guy with a cheap cheap player that wouldnt play it so i switched to +r.

I use DVD shrink and alot of the new movies I don't have problems with but then some I don't and burn just fine. I also use a dirt cheap dvd from ebay that I hacked to run any region and to do some other stuff. Now getting them to play on my PS2 is out of the picture cause that thing is useless for playing dvd's. I used to use Nero when I wanted to use the lightscribe on my burner and burn a picture or the name on the disc but besides that, it's DVD shrink all the way.

hacking isn't necessary to remove region codes if you use dvdshrink, it's one of the first options you're presented with.

copying most commercial dvds -> dvdshrink
copying ones that have "invalid structure" copy protection bullshit (a lot of lionsgate stuff) in dvdshrink -> ripit4me
copying burned dvds or burning downloaded iso's -> nero

Buk, I just burned three dvd's the other day that were in DVD format when I downloaded them. Folder was Video_TS with the bup ifo and vob files. I just burned it as a "normal dvd" with windows vista (not even nero) and it worked perfectly on my computer dvd player and the dvd player in my room and in our living room, and they were all DVD+R. Did you burn it so that the folder was there, so pretend your dvd drive ie E it would be E:\Video_TS\Video_TS.VOB? Or did you burn them to the root directory? If you burned them to the root it won't work. Then again the files I downloaded didn't have copy protection bs I don't think.

I checked a DVD of mine (hostage) and it had 1 folder, video_ts not even audio_ts so I didnt even bother making that second folder and it was fine as well.

Yup, I'm fairly sure the audio_ts folder is only useful for the dvd music discs that are DTS surround sound and all that crap. DVD movies only need the video_ts.

I don't use vista and I doubt buk does either.
