Default built y8 head

So guys, I am looking for some suggestions on what to use in the build of my y8 head. Its going to see some pretty serious boost, so I figure a few (at least) of you guys should have some good advice.

I'm torn between using crower or ferrea valvetrain. which components would work better and why?
I'm also torn between zex, and crower for the camshaft. which cam will be better or best for a FI application?
What would be some of the bigger advantages to using an adjustable cam gear as opposed to the oem unit?

Also, If I could get some pointers or ideas as to what machine work to have done to the head other than a port/polish of intake and exhaust, and a valve job.

If you guys could give some solid suggestions and pointers to get me in the proper direction, id appreciate it.

heres my suggestion, you should have gotten a z6 head, a y8 head is more oriented toward feul economy, hondas arent cars made to make tons of power, theyre designed for feul economy, and the y8's intake chambers are proof of that. sell it and get a z6 head

the y8 is not an economy head, it has squared ports for better combustion efficiency or some ----.

but as far as building the head goes man just look around, mainly people say

(actually i can't continue with this ---- because i am on the phone with a ------- half retard that just got a new laptop and can't figure out jack ----, i would really like to choke the ---- out of him.)

maybe a little more useful information........ I think ill be content with the y7 block, y8 head. seeing as it will have boost abuse, I would like it to last a little while. Everything is going to be built, as I would like some decent power out of it.

Any suggestions other than a Z6 head?

Combustion efficiency you ------- moron.. you just contridicted yourself..

ScottSi is rigth, go with a Z6 head They are cheap and people are willing to trade for y8 heads because it ups your compression. I honestly would not go with any valvetrain. I have reved this ---- out of stock valvetrain and ran accross absolutly no problems (to 8200 many times) and i know other users have done the same.

instead of building the head you might wanna replace those sharpie sized rods with something a little better. if i were going to touch the head all i'd do is cam and cam gear.

z6 is better than a y8 head, i will argue this with anyone because i know i am right and a y8 head is booboo, ---- even a y8 block is crap

I know the Y8 blocks are ---- because of oil problems, but doesnt the Y8 flow better and have the clover design for more efficent combustion

Your gay.

The y8 block is "junk" in the aspect of getting oil throughout the engine in HIGH BOOST applications. The head has square-like ports for better flow. The z6 head; however, is known to be able to run a more advanced timing.

Ok...first this thread shoulda been in the hybrid/tech section. But on to business. A z6 head will outflow a y8 in stock form. I used to think it was the opposite as well until i looked at some flow charts from some bench flow tests.

I don't mean to be an ***, but you honestly didn't think that one through did you. The reason you think you can run a more advanced ignition is cause *gasp* the z6 doesn't have the squared off combustion chamber. More space in the head means a lower static compression, so of course you'd be able to run slightly more timing. But not much more than a y8. The whole purpose of those sqaure combustion chambers is to help efficiency during combustion, to combat detonation by placing the combustion exactly where it needs to be...centered over the piston. Here's another thing for you too...if and when you do get a portmatch and polish done, don't knife-edge the runner in the center of the intake side...air/fuel flow is concentrated on the outside of the port. By leaving the runner slighlty fat, it creates an airplane wing effect and increases the speed of the air/fuel flowing in. And of course the general knowledge of leave the intake side rough for better air/fuel atomization. If i think of anything more before i get completely drunk, i'll let ya know.
