Default Boat question

My dad loves to fish and what not and i came across a good deal on a little aluminum boat here in VA, (dad is in PA). But I don't know too much about boats, I figured it would be a good gift to give the old man, and something that I could use for hunting season also to zip across the lake. The boat is a 1980 alumacraft, with a 1980 Mercury 9.8 hp motor, in the pics the boat looks to be in good shape. The guy has ran the boat in the ocean and I would only use it in fresh water, is this anything to be cautioned of that the boat was ran in salt water ? Guy is selling it for $650, boat, motor and trailer. Good deal of no ? Oh it's a 14" deep v.

thats a alright deal...nothing to worry about i live in Fl so we are constantly going from salt to fresh...just check out the motor for rust or corrosion ..if it was washed after every time they were in salt. you have nothing to worry about... hope this helps

salt water ***** carbs and ---- up, it also clogs the water cooling system on the engine pretty fast compaired to fresh water. Make sure it runs alright and doesn't look to corroded.

It's a alumacraft, and thats a pretty good name, the guy put a new gas tank and lines in and new rod holders, I'm thinking that I'll get it and I could always put it up on ebay if i don't want it.

if it runs its worth it. just do your best to look for corrosion and rust in the water passages. like said above, if it was washed out then it will be fine
