Best way to clean a valve cover?

Default Best way to clean a valve cover?

I need to strip the paint off and clean my valve cover, whats the best way, and no I can be liek Travis and put it in my dishwasher... Should I soak it in paint thinner? haha Aircraft coating remover works well, but its a real mess... and what works good for the oil, gasoline??

when i do my valve covers i use a bead/glass blaster, works wonders, when i didnt have acsess to one, i used aircraft striper or fast paint reducer and let it soak, use brake parts cleaner for the oil and ----, whipe with rag. thats how id do it... -blake

Eh, I picked it off with my fingers and then sanded it all off.

And for the record, it was Spenser not Travis. You're getting your Canadians screwed up.

aircraft remover and take it to a self service car wash and clean that bastard off. Aircraft remover on your hands burns

First remove the paint with aircraft stripper like mentioned. To clean it good I use Simple Green in a BIG bucket and fully submirge the cover. Soak it overnight or a few days and rinse it well.

i had my valve cover stripped in an hour and its a b with crazy ridges and ----
soaking it in stripper is useless it reacts right away
strip it, sand it, paint it
about 3 hours of work

If you don't want to deal with burning chemicals, use Ready Strp, made by back to nature. It rocks
