So I won an auction for this manifold on eBay, but started to think it was some kind of scam because of the price I paid for it. One of those things where if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Anyways, check out what I got in the mail today...









It appears to be an SFP manifold, but the badge on it says, "dynamic turbo". Most of the welds look fantastic, but there are some booger flux core welds in a few spots as well. It probably cracked or something and was repaired by a shitty welder. Anyways, I am going to give it a once over and weld up any potential problem spots before I put it on.

It also came with this:





Looks like a generic wastegate with a little rust on the inside. The diaphram looks pretty good though and I already tested it for leaks.... there were none. Should work great after a little TLC.

I still can't believe I got this thing so cheap. This will flow way better than the log I was going to use, and I'm glad I will be able to use the external wastegate now.

Thats a very good deal! I'd abrassive blast the manifold to really see whats going on, it looks like regular spray paint from the photos.

So how can I clean this thing up? I would have to take it somewhere to get blasted right? What kind of place will do this for me and how much would it cost?

Or could I just use some aircraft stripper on it?

I can tell the paint is fairly fresh, and it's definately just spray paint, not coating of any sort. So I'm sure they were trying to make it look better before they sold it.

any place that does powdercoating should be able to point you to a sand blaster, hit the yellow pages

Nice deal, I scored a t-bird 63/60 a few months back for 75 bucks. Totally thought it would be a total crap pile but turned out to be a really nice piece. Sometimes you just get lucky. I'm sure you could strip that bitch with some aircraft stripper and a wire brush if you cant find a reasonable sandblast job.
