beepers, pagers and other one way devices
How many of you guys use these? I dropped my beeper a couple days ago and it broke. I went back to the store to get a new one and supposedly the whole paging networks going down the tubes. Motorola stopped making them and there are only like 3 frequencys in my area. So i payed $150 for a new pager with a year service. When i picked it up they tried 3 before one got to work and then it didn't work at my house. I brought it back and they can't refund me for the service but they can for the beeper. So pretty much i paid $90 for no apparent reason. I ended up calling SkyTel and getting a pager for $180 with 1year service, a 800 number and guaranteed 99.9% pages. With a 30 day moneyback garantee. Whats going on in the world today. I can go get a cell phone connected faster than a beeper....it's bullshit. Sorry for the rant but i know i'm not the only one experiencing this ----.

you shoulda just got an ebay pager. ---- I used to have my pagers hooked up for like 7 bucks a month and that's without a commitment, stop any time. If I was to commit it'll be like 40-50 bucks. And I didn't pay more than 30 bucks for my pagers. Then again maybe you got them fancy shmancy ones that are like the size of a book. But yeah go get a cell phone. Verizon's most basic plan is 30 bucks a month.

They're probably talking about the Nextel walkie talkies built into the phones

Well pagers are good cause you don't want unwanted people knowing your cell number because than you might as well just keep it off. Understand? It's not the pagers it's the service...no one is up to date on the service except skytel because thats there only business.
