I ended up getting the car into the driveway, but man am I pissed. I don't really know whats wrong with it, i did some forum hopping and it might be the reaction shell. Anyways the car is a 96 Tahoe with a 4L60E auto tranny. This was supposed to be a help thread, but it just turned into a rant. The trucks got 150,000 miles on it. I was just wondering had ever had their reaction shell replaced, or what it might cost. I think i'm going to go drink a beer....

One of the guys my dad does business with owns two transmission shops. I plan on pulling the tranny this week then taking it to him to find out what happened. Like I say, i was backing up and gave it a little more gas to get out of the street because a car was coming, and thats when it went...

I was just looking if anyone had had this happen and what my options are
looking for the cheapest most temporary fix (asuming there is something besides dumping the whole tranny) so i can sell it

Your cheapest option will probably be installing a known good used tranny and selling it. If you're gonna go through the trouble of fixing the existing tranny, it wouldn't be much more to get a complete rebuild.
