i work at a Honda dealer... and i think i speak for everyone there: ----'EM! dont give them a dime. they go under, we will continue to sell/service cars, and even sell more once these dumbass's loose there choice to buy a shitty *** GM/Chrysler/Ford

Toyota and Nissan are already making quality trucks. once the "big three" go under, everyone will step up there game to fill in the gaps that are missing in the market (diesel trucks, work vans, etc)... bet you see a Cummin's diesel in Toyota trucks next year

One of three will be around no matter what happens, Ford actually builds solid cars now. I have had alot of friends/family with them and I actually like alot of their products.


Most southerners wont be caught in a Tundra for a truck. Gm is a mess is meant to fail. Dodge can survive with a major scale down proably 75 percent of its workforce and majority of current cars they build.

i might see Ford coming threw this.

GM... doubt they make it out alive.

Chrysler... we already bailed them out once!

they make way too much crap. "wow that [insert crap] at the auto show was kinda cool"... in 2 weeks they are building them, and the 3 people that can afford them that liked them buy them. seems to me they have too many of those cars...

both GM and Chrysler seem over-diversified. too many brands, too many models. and not enough people buying to need that many. IF they are alive next week, they need to cut down all there cars to like 5 different one, concentrate on making them GOOD CARS. then maybe rebuild up to more models...


you want a GM/Ford/Dodge truck next year (or dont wanna be seen in a Toyota/Nissan)? dont worry, sure there will be plenty of used till you get warmed up to a Japanese truck...

I agree. The money could be much better spent on upgrading our failing infrastructures and funding education. Let them close the doors and file for bankruptcy. I doubt they will be going anywhere. The buildings are still going to be there, the machinery, equiptment, and workforce. This might give them a chance to break the stranglehold of the unions and be competitive with Honda and Toyota. The average GM worker makes something like $78 per hour with all of the benefits. The average Honda worker gets like $35. I don't remember the exact numbers but it isn't even close. I will argue with anyone but my opinion is that GM puts out some DAMN good cars today. They fucked themselves by creating a bad reputation in the past couple decades and letting the union wear the pants.

However, if the doors do happen to close for good...as a soon to be, mechanical engineer, i am worried about having a huge base of damn good experienced engineers looking for any job they can find. I've already got a job lined up but i would be nervous for my classmates. Also, think about the suppliers that rely on their business. Companies that have done the right thing, innovated, and been competitive. Now they may be forced to close the doors.

GM sold more cars than toyota up until a couple months ago.

i read somewhere that the average GM employee counting all benefits costs GM ~140-165k a year. the average toyota worker costs toyota ~65k a year.

thats the problem. unions are lame, they were good for something 50 years ago. now they are a waste. they are communist organizations. and i laugh in the face of all the clowns with proud to be union stickers all over their trucks. pretty soon they'll be proud to be out of a job.

agreed. when you pay some retard 30 bucks an hour + overtime + pension + health care + vacation + 401K + whatever to torque on lug nuts, it's really no wonder you can't turn a ------- profit. greed took this company right into the *******. wagoner himself said that they didn't put anywhere near the time/effort/R&D $'s into the american family car because the trucks were the most profitable. during the 80's and 90's, american cars had flinstone transmissions, and their rep took a huge hit. they'll be lucky if they ever get consumer confidence back up enough to break even.
