Actually Ive been witness to more than 1 3.8l turbo failure. Most of the hardcore GN guys think the 4.3L is a better engine...something about crank design I think.

4.3L = 305 with 2 cyl knocked off. Small block parts are aplenty. Noel

actually the 4.3l is based off of the 350ci sbc
they are pretty reliable as well

the 4.3l came on many full size Chevy trucks, as well as full size GMC trucks, as well as Chevy s10's & blazers, gmc sonomas & jimmys. As well as astro vans, and maybe even a few more vehicles. In limited production they were turbo charged and added to gmc sonomas, and jimmys to produce the syclones, and typhoons that produced 285hp and around 360ftlbs TQ off of a 17c turbo, many believe that these numbers are a little underated because of the trap speeds these vehicles are able produce.

A well maintained 3.8 t-type or GN is one of the more potent cars on the streets, even after allll these years. A lawyer in this area has a white GMC Typhoon. I like the idea of the truck, but that thing seems to be a pile...

you right not everyone is smart enough to be able to maintain a turbo charged truck thats not even able to haul a half decent load for the power it makes. Not to mention there were only so many made, therefor there is only so much available for them after market wise. And being around 15-16 year old (not quite as old as the GN's but still ) these vehicles arn't getting any younger. But the popularity of these vehicles are just now starting to gain( when they first came out nobody wanted them because what good was a truck that couldn't haul). And being that they only made around 3000 (syclones not typoons) of them the valve of a decent low mileage one is hard to find and expensive to buy and maintain.

Heh! been a while! The aforementioned car eneded up being a drift car for a while, and eventually the inveitable happened......... the boys in blue decided it was 'unsafe' and 'unroadworthy' , and as such the car ended up being scrapped for parts!

In the meantime, though, I was already working on the latest project, so I figured I'd show off what I've been busy with - same kinda car, just a slightly different choice of turbo and motor... as always, all work done @ home in the garage! (except for a few bits of welding! - i.e. the exhaust manifold lol)

RB30 motor, GT35/82R turbo with .82 rear and .5 front
