If you purchase a vehicle, you will be responsible for past due fees and penalties when you transfer the title into your name, unless:

Registration is current.
A non-operational status is on file with the DMV. Fees must be paid before operation to avoid penalties.
The vehicle was otherwise exempt from these reporting requirements.

just transfer the bike title to someone in a different state then transfer it back to california..

they wont know the difference..

that cost money too, one of the reasons i didn't transfer my title when i registered my car in nevada. i knew i would be back in ca someday and didn't want to pay the extra amount.

well we sold our 70 c10 to some guy here, it was titled and registered in nevada.
he paid about $350 to get it registered in ca. a lot of that was cause of the weight of the truck.
