Anyone from NJ? Is Newark Really that bad?
Ok, I'm going to pick up a Tranny from a shop in Manville, NJ and I was going to go shopping at Jersey Garden's Outlet Mall, and stay at the Country Inns & Suites by Carlson which is right accross the street.
I have never been there, some people from around here are telling me to stay the hell away from Newark if I want to live......
Can someone please advise on the area and if it's that bad, sometimes people make stuff out to seem WAY worse then it is.
Sorry for off topic....

The area is fine. I've gone shopping at the Jersey Garden's Mall a number of times. Also, Ikea is around the corner and I've been there a number of times. Its around the corner from the airport. Its all industrial. Nothing to worry about really as far as personal safety goes. The only thing I'd be a little worried about is bringing a modified Honda there and parking it for long periods of time.

You'd be surprised...anything Honda related gets stolen down there. All depends on what parts certain thieves are looking for at the time. If the hotel you're staying at has some kind of secure parking area, park there...even if it costs you a couple bux extra. Newark in general isn't all that bad (personally I think that east orange is way worse off, and Camden ranked #1 in the US's violent crimes)...just keep to yourself and you'll be ok.
