they may have stopped working for a while... i just got into it like 6 months ago... alot of the sites are down right now because the keys just changed.. (kinda like the password to get dish network) but i learned alot from www.dssrookie.com and www.dssevolution.com I got my reciever from www.dishjockey.com
to explain it in short... theres free sat tv out there, its called FTA (free to air) so you can purchase an FTA reciever and its totally legal. BUT once you get it you upload new software to the box with a serial cable and wam bam thank you ma'am you got dish network!!! all ppvs, all movie chans, and YES ALL **** CHANS!!!

Okay, so you spend 200 on the box, do you need a dish too? (that dssrookie site isn't working, thats why I ask) And whats to stop "technology" from changing in 6 months so everything you've spent is now usless? I hardly watch tv but I'm vuuurry interested in free tv.
