Ive been to both jail and prison, and neither are a joke. County (jail) is boring and you have pretty much no freedom. You will sit on your *** and do nothing. Most jails now make you get up during the day and you cannot lay under the covers... you have to be on top. It is cold in most of the jails because you are less energetic when it is cold. Keep most of the "energetic" aka. loud mouthed ----------ers, sleeping.
State (prison) is better. You have alot more freedom, but if you are a jerk or a loud mouth, you will get put in your place.
Best advice I can give you, keep your ------- mouth shut. Keep away from the gaurds. Anyone sees you talking to them in private... you are now considered a snitch. Eat as fast as you can at mess, other people will try to take your food by putting their fingers on it. If you get in a fight while there... DO NOT BACK DOWN. You better die trying. Otherwise, you will be considered easy prey, all of your posesions will get fucked with.
While you are in there though, use your head... Do anything really stupid, and you will catch a case and stay longer. Best thing you can do is work out and read books. Sleep and eat. If you have to crap, for godsakes, courtesy flush. Thats about it, just don't cry like a bitch and you will be okay. Keep to yourself as much as possible. Try to keep yourself in the eye of the gaurds as much as possible so people will not ---- with you. If ---- starts going down around you, leave the area quickly. Go to your cell/bunk. YOU DIDN'T SEE ----. Remember that line.
Oh and to set the record straight, the whole drop the soap ---- is overplayed. If you don't do anything to **** anyone off, you will be fine in the showers. Look at the wall and no one... nothing else... even if that is your thing. If you do happen to be gay, it will not be what you want. I saw one guy end up in the hospital for 3 months because he opened his mouth.
County jail, that doesn't happen much at all. Too hard to pull it off. Gaurds are constantly listening to the room over the PA system, doing walk-throughs, and video monitoring. They don't want it to happen on their watch cause then they are in trouble and will be doing a ---- ton of paper work.
If you are a CSC case, you are pretty much screwed, doesn't matter which degree you are, no one will talk to you besides other csc guys... who are usually pedo's. Best thing for you to do is first 10 minutes there, start ---- and beat the ---- out of anyone you can. You will more than likely be put in solitery/maximum confinement, where no one can get to you. It really sucks to be by yourself though. I did 3 months in solitery and I didn't have a problem with it. I prefer to be by myself anyway. I typically read 3-4 books a day in between naps.
Best thing of all to do is be a trustee/work release. You get more freedom and they pay you to work. It isn't much, but you will have something.
Also, you will typically end up in a certain prison, if that is where you end up, based upon age. They do not like to put older guys in with younger guys. Mainly because the younger guys are all "billy badass".... untill they meet some really nice guy who is 36 years old been in prison for the last 14 years. He will tear you in half. So you will end up with other age group. usually like 20 somethings, 30 somethings, 40... you get the idea.
