Anyone ever dealt with or had a land rover?
I'm looking to get something more civilized. I've got the Z still so I won't be totally out of toys. Since I live in WI and a good portion of the year the weather isnt the greatest for the Z I want something suited for it. I found two Land Rover Discovery's for a reasonable price. Just curious on any problems or issues they have. One is a 96 and the other is a 99. I know it's not something I can run to the local pick and pull and just get a alternator or something like that for. It's not something I'm gonna stick a lift kit on or some big mud bogger tires on and take it off road or anything or its gonna stay completely stock. We have a local Land Rover dealership so if all else fails then I can get raped on something I can't handle but I'm usually pretty handy with the steelz if you know what I mean. REGULATORS!! Sorry I had to get that off my chest. :P

I think they are one of the most comfortable cars ever.
One of my insurance clients had one, and cursed it. That was only becuse of all the safety triggers - once it wouldnt go in reverse because the backup light was out. Stupid stuff like that.

I still have the rolla but looking to get rid of it soon. I just don't really like. Plus my wife and I are trying to have a Stillnoturbo Jr. if you know what I mean and the rolla is my daily driver so getting a baby in and out of it ain't gonna flow. Just need something bigger. If I had a bigger garage or a bigger yard to park the rolla where it wouldn't be in the way then I'd keep it but for now I need something with four doors.
As for the Land Rover my wife did so researching and basically found the same thing as with the problems with electrical and alot of other gremlins. Figures...it's a european automobile.

I used to work for a company that made after market diagnostic software for big marque european cars. The land rovers have no end of problems, they're serious ---- box's. The electronic suspension goes nuts and its about 2k to fix it (new ecu's etc). The mechanicals are fairly solid though and they are a genuine off roader.
The ones to get are the diseasels, slow but bullet proof. Otherwise, get a landcruiser or similar the arabs won't drive much else, for a good reason, they just never break.
