I picked up a 1/4-rca plug adapter just to see if it would work. I did google and I found sites but nothing I'm finding helpful. Alot of it is using like PA systems and not too many vacuum tube amplified radios. The one I got didn't come with a schematic on it either.

man, all tube amps set up correctly sound awesome when overdriven, usually with a nice creamy tone with a slight crunch to it, but nothing like transistor amps that get nasty when you crank them up too loud. If you want a small amp with 8-10watts you could run 2x 6v6 or 6bq5 push pull output tubes (6v6 in particular), they sound good for practice amps, but if you want bigger power you could run some el34/6ca7 or 6L6s. Remember, tube rectified power supplies always sound better than solid state rectifiers. Most gain stages are 12ax7 but ive seen some where they use 12ax7s and then a 12au7 for a driver...

You do realise it is possible to digitally synthesize the tube amp sound these days?

real tube>fake tube any day of the week. If you dont want to dick around with replacing output tubes that can get expensive, at least use a tube gain/preamp stage

soggy old non ceramic caps and resistors ftw! the suitcase thing is a rad idea, that would be so easy to take to shows and you could put all of your cables and ---- in it the other guy in my band took an old suitcase and turned it into an effects board for the same reason.

that looks to me like it is single ended 6v6? What are the tubes? At least that power supply transformer is decent. New caps and resistors will make that thing sound 100% better...

So would going transistor in a non-overdriven scenario, running the input through a SIDstation first.
