Am I a geek and Fred a nerd? Or...?

Re: Am I a geek and Fred a nerd? Or...?
For me, geek is someone who enjoys something obscure. A nerd is someone who creates something obscure, then gets geeky about it.
By that definition, Fred is closer to being a nerd than JD. Due to his diyefi stuff. The moment any nerdy hobby gains cache as being remotely cool to women (even in a subversive way) all nerds become geeks. I design hifi equipment, but since girls like the concept of hifi I am a geek, not a nerd.
---- it, how often you get laid and the quality of poon you get is a better yardstick in real life.

Money attracts women. Lots of nerds and geeks have money. So if you have money and are a nerd/geek is it safe to say that all nerds are geeks if all geeks have money? Or does money automatically elevate you to a status higher than either?

A geek can be your average guy that likes something "nerdy". Those of use that play nerdy videogames (WoW, ect.)
A nerd is someone who attends a Star Wars convention and dresses up like a storm trooper.

a nerd is someone who commits themselves to an academics and are vastly intelligent in many areas of study. They tend not to be as social and spend most of their time studying or researching. A good example of this would be Stephen Hawkings, he's a nerd.
A geek is someone who is vastly intelligent in just one area of study, and commits themselves entirely to that. usually its something that most woman don't share an interest in. This could be academic or social, such as someone who is nationally ranked on a video game, a computer hacker, someone that could tell you everything about any movie, a storm trooper at the star wars convention, etc. Geeks don't have to be a genius, they just have to know one area extensively. A good example of this would be, Bill Gates. he was a computer geek, and because of his extensive computer knowledge he knew that DOS was the future and marketed it as such.
