Default air/fuel gauge

just installed my new autometer gauge ... but i think i connected it wrong ... the gauge keeps reading lean when at idle, but then when i start moving it stays at lean then also the green light which indicates rich starts blinking at the same time and also when reading lean 3 lights are on at the same time (is this normal?) i have power and ground put in the appropiate places and the purple wire for the o2 sensor is connected to my primary oxygen sensor wire close to the PCM/ECM. i also never get anywhere close to the stoichiometric range. sorry this is so long, i just want to make sure i got everything in right. this is installed into my 2000 civic si. i tried using search, but it didn't answer any of my questions. so maybe you guys can help me.

What color is the wire you connected the purple wire to? If that is hooked up to the right wire, it might be your 02 sensor.

i have it connected to a black/white wire... i had it connected to a white wire before and it was acting wierd as well. someone told me to connect it to the secondary heated oxygen sensor wire which is white/red.

The solid white wire is the one it goes to. How was it acting wierd? It is not a steady reading. It will constantly be moving across the gauge.

YUP, solid white wire. When you first start the car cold it will stay on lean. Take it for a spin around the block and it should start reading.

edit: sorry, it will start up cold and stay on rich

Yes its the white wire on primary o2
sensor only. When car is warmed up
and at idle the guage will bounce back
and forth from lean to rich. This is because
the ecu is correcting constantly.
What a lot of peaple dont realize is
that the guage is only usefull when on the
gas under load. Then you should be rich,
if lean more fuel tuning is needed to bring
you up to stioch conditions.

Autometre web has a good explanation
and pictures for specific aplications,so us it
dont go by me only.
