Just keep your eyes open and relax. If you're not sure what to do, watch the guys in front of you. And I hate those people who blow by the staging lights and sit there like "Ok, I'm ready to start the race!" and then it takes the track guys a couple of minutes to back the person up and then they back up too far and then they pull up and can never get it right. Don't be one of those people...

For your first couple of runs, don't get crazy and reckless. I'd do a slow launch and get a feel for the track and find your comfort level. I raced up in Northern Ohio a few months ago (first time at that particular track) and at the end, it kind of goes downhill and then STOPS. I was flying down there and was like OH ----! Turn! Turn! Turn! Get to know the layout of the track, where the finish line is (can't even begin to stress the importance of that, at least in competition) and then go full throttle and beat the **** out of your car.

And like someone else said before, leave on the light just before green. It takes about a 1/2 second to react so by the time your car even begins to move, it'll be right about the same time the light turns green.

Finally, have fun and be safe.

P.S. The finish line thing... At that same track, the finish line wasn't clearly marked and I let off the gas cuz I had a huge lead... Unfortunately, I was nowhere near the finish line, got passed and lost. I always make 100% sure I know where everything is before I lay on it.

What's even more fucked up though is that I raced at another track and asked 5 people working there where the finish line was... AND NOBODY KNEW. I finally had to track down the manager/owner to find out.

What time are you going? I wanted to take my new WRX to see how it'll do before I ---- with it. I thought fridays was for pros only in Orlando, or like 10 second cars. They do have the races every first saturday of the month from 10 to like 3 am. I might see you there, It'll be my first time racing also.

i noticed a huge difference after cleaning my throttle body and filter
the filter was so pack fullon dirt and mud i had to just keep banging on the ground tile i got most of it out

but yeh throttle body cleaner, fuel injector cleaner and some good clean oil would help
as far as launching..same thing everyone else said
after the first couple times you should get tyour lauching style down.
At our track ou had like a drop T effect
only one yellow light would light up before the green so basically you go onthe yellow instead of waitng for the green at the bottom
is was test and tune day
