On the positive, you can do homework like whoah, concentrate in school all day, and rock your bosses socks off at work. On the negative, it leaves you feeling shitty when its all done (i usually am in a really bad mood by the end of the day if i take it in the morn), bad for your health, dry mouth all day, no appetite, etc. There is also another big downside, it cuts you off from reality. I know people that take it everyday, but arent prescribed to it. These kids are very jittery and wierd. It messes with your brain and makes you think wierd ----, no joke. Its just a little pill of meth at the essence of things. I know a kid that was prescribed to it for like 6 years, then graduated high school and got off it. He gained an enormous amount of weight very quickly, and basically shut himself up in his room. His whole life and attitude changed just because he stopped taking his "medicine". Adderall is really good for you, right? Dont do coke because as stated above, all you want is more coke.
Your on that ---- right now! Look how much you wrote.
thats funny ----...lol...

I'm reading all this ---- about how it makes you super focused and ----. well... whos to say that you're just ------- THINKING that your doing good? anyone have any improved grades to show for poppin aderal?

i'm just curious...

I loved the simpsons.

Personally, I dont think I will ever use that sort of stuff.
I think that there are very few people that really need that sort of medicine.

Its all in your will power, if you want to focus and do something right, you will focus and do something right. If you have no will power, you will be a dumb ----. To me, there is an easy test that everyone can do. If you have something like a hobby, that you can focus in and excell, then you dont have any problems. You just dont have the will power to focus and interest yourself in the other stuff.

Hmm, I actually just started my prescription of Adderall so I don't have anything to prove it, but I do know how my ADD has affected me the last few semesters of college. I ended up dropping all the way out last semester and when you pay you're own tuition you just can't afford to let that happen.

So...here I am, I just started Adderall a couple weeks ago. I'm taking two summer classes, and my ability to pay attention during class has increased a hundred fold. All of a sudden I'm not learning little bits here in there, but I feel like the lecture or lesson is actually connected and flows and that I take so much more from it. My ambition to do homework still really doesn't exist, but once I do start it I can focus on it and don't get distracted so easily.

At work the change hasn't been as drastic as it was for school, however I do actually find it a lot easier to stay busy through out the work day and I do accomplish a lot.

The negative side is that I have had a decrease of apetite. It was bad the first few days but is getting better. (This is a big deal for a gimpy light weight like me )
I have trouble sleeping although in a sense that really hasn't been a problem because I had trouble sleeping a long time before that and now at least some times I can get to sleep better because I'm not too distracted to just simply lay down and go to sleep. The dry mouth thing bothers me too, but is easily remedied by keeping a bottle of water with me.

As for the abuse of Adderall, well I think if I were going to return back to recreational drug use (I've got over 5 years now 100% clean including alcohol) I think I could find a lot of things more enjoyable than taking Adderall . But if it's prescribed for you and you really do have a problem, I think so far it's a great thing.

That's easy for a person that has never struggled with it to say. While I do agree that will power can be a large portion if not all of the problem for some ppl, there are many who for chemical imbalances need some assistance.

Take for example another problem that many ppl have: Seasonal Affect Disorder. Read: depression in the winter time. Well many if not all ppl suffer a little bit from depression in the winter, but there are many who experience more than others. It is a result of a lack of endorphins being produced that are stimulated by light. Any light helps, but when the light is the sun or is at a similar spectrum and brightness as the sun it creates a marked difference in how ppl feel that suffer from SAD.

A lot of ppl just write it off as psychosomatics, but a study has been done to show otherwise. Several patients had a small but bright LED taped to the backside of their knee. It was covered so that they could not see the light and because it was an LED the heat output was so minescule as to be unnoticeable. Then the patients were put in completely dark rooms and had machines montitoring their Endorphin levels. Once the endorphin levels became lower from being left in the dark, the LED light would be randomly turned on. Corresponding amounts of endorphins were shown to be released as a result of this light.

So was it just psychosomatics? Do ppl just get happier because they go outside more in the sun and recreate? Or is there some sort of correlation between light (especially sunlight or imitation sunlight) and moods.

For the sake of reason, I'd say it's more than just getting off his medication that did that to him. A lot of people who end up using/abusing any sort of drug have trouble re-adapting after being medicated for so long. They become so used to not having to use their own power to be a functional person since they can be reliant on the magic pill which, in turn, causes them to lose the ability to do it without the pills.
