I'd like to know if it weld aluminum, because it will be a long time before I can afford a miller Tig, this way if it does weld aluminum, I can make this and that for myself.
I don't know if you can weld aluminum with it but I know you can braze it. I have a few pacs of Alum. Brazing rods n my shop.

Martin Shot me a PM if your coming this saturday.

no, aluminum simply melts. i know ive tried it. it pops ike crazy and motlen aluminum falls on your foot and burns through your shoe. dont try it. steel is the best. it also has to be pretty thick too.

Well then drop the heat. I've done it too, but you would want to build anything using it. Mostly just usable for leak repairs.

i do believe there is a certian guy on this board with a PIMP turbo truck that used this method to weld his manifold or whatnots with the help of a coat hanger.

Indeed so, Cadracer did his whole turbo manifold with coat-hanger Oxy/Act welding. I just patched up a muffler tonite doing it.. it really makes you feel "backyardish"

Pretty sure you can weld aluminum with a oxy setup. Oxy and tig welding are pretty much the same thing in ways.
The problem you had was probably not cleaning the aluminum good enough. The same exact thing will happen with a tig welder. Before aluminum can be welded you have to clean the surface with a stainless brush or rough 3m pad that has never been on anything but aluminum. Then it needs to also be cleaned with acetone. When aluminum sits out it gots a couting of aluminum oxide on the outside, aluminum oxide melts at around 3 times the temp of aluminum. If you don't get it off the inside will melt before the outer skin. Then when you finally get the outside to pool the inside will just poor out.

It can be done, but it is even harder than doing it with a tig. And using a tig on aluminum isn't the easiest.
