Default about to spend some $ lots of ?'s

As the title says I am at long last about to spend some money, but before I do I have some questions so I don't make a boneheaded purchase .

1. I am building a D16a6 from an 88 crx si, I plan on buying eagle rods, but haven't decided on which pistons (srp, je, weisco, etc)any suggestions on which to use and the best place to buy them would be greatly appreciated.

2. I hoping to run 16-18 psi max and rev the motor to approx 8000 rpm. will a properly posted block hold with good tuning, and will 450 cc injectors be enough?

3. The turbo. I initially plan on using a T3 to set up the car so I can easily swap to a T3/T4 in the future if I feel it is necessary. If as stated above I run 16-18 psi and up to 8000 rpm will T3 (say, .63/60 or so) be able to do so efficiently enough, or should I just go for the hybrid turbo right away?

Sorry this is so long, but I plan on laying down close to $2000 to start this project, and I don't want to **** it all away .

might cost a little more than that....

for 16-18 psi you will need some serious engine management... a simple 12:1 FMU probably wont cut it... lol

you will certainly need an intercooler of some sort as well.. and probably a lot of other things that will come up along the way. but it sounds like a fun start! also u will need a beefier fuel system, not just injectors.

This is just a start of the project, not the complete list by any means . I plan on running ghettodyne for my engine management, and a fmic once I can pick one up. The turbo, rods, and pistons are going to be some of the highest dollar parts of the project (hopefully) so I want to buy them first and get them out of the way.

naw d series is coo, you are going to pop those sleeves at 18 psi even if you have good rods and pistons. personally I really dont trust pining/posting but thats just me. I would get it sleeved. really how fast do you want to go? because 18psi? that will seriously be scary. have you ever been in just a 14 second car? its scary already. especially through 4th gear. if I were you, I would find a good dyno tuner and get some time on that thing. I am guessing with ls rods low comp pistons, 12-14 lbs of boost tuned on the dyno you can put out around the same power that a b series would on stock internals. and spend a lot less.

what I am doing, is pulling my b16 out. I am buying a head from some dude for 500 and I already picked up a block for 50 bux with no sleeves.I am having it sleeved, and getting pistions and rods. I am pretty much spending 2 g's on the whole motor. and its all being paid for through the sale of my old motor.

i agree, look into getting it sleeved. Also, Jeff is running 12psi on a b20/vtec w/ 450cc's and is near the limits on their flow. just something to think about

Thanks for the input guys. To answer your questions in no particular order: Yes, I have been in and driven a few fast cars (BPU MKIV Supra, turbo Mustang Cobra, and various built Camaro's, Firebirds, etc.) I want to build a D series for a few reasons, I already have the motor, built D series seem to be few and far between these days, and it will be fun to say "it's just a sohc." As far as the injectors I figured I would be pushing it, but Jeff's, motor is bigger and he's revving it higher (not sure how much that matters, but here's to being optimistic). Anybody have any input on my questions regarding pistons and turbo size?

I have had no personal experience with Eagle rods, but a lot of people don't trust them.

As for the pistons I would suggest JE. If you look around Honda-Tech there is usually someone selling a set of pistons for a good price.

I agree, people underestimate single-cammers. I would seriously consider sleeving as well unless you want problems later on. As far as pistons, JE's are great, but I'm hearing good things about CP Pistons, in fact I saw a set today and I would definately consider them. High quality, and GREAT price.
