if id a choice id go with whatever is cheaper. i have the z6 head on a y8 block and can say that unless you get a good p/p id doubt it has a significant advantage over the a6. power dies over 7,200 even though the redline has been set higher. so go with the a6. after you boost it, you wont even care. ive seen a6 heads dirt cheap. if the lower compression scares you with the vitara settup, then either deck the block or turn up the boost. a6=

In the D series realm, the A6 is the block of choice. Most of the racer/engine builder I have dealt with all choose the A6 over all others. As for your choice of components, be very careful about the Compression Ratios you get with the Vitaras, we are running an A6/Y8/TTrod/Vitara combo, and there is very little power in the low RPMs because of the low CR. It screams above 3500RPM, but is dog slow at the lower RPMs. If I had it to do again, I'd make sure the CR was higher. I believe after all the calculation, that our combo ended up at 8.5:1, which is fun only if you are running high levels of boost. Our current 11lbs, just isn't cutting it...
