Default 97-01 awd crv...questions bout it.

ok i know what motor it has....im wanting to know if the 5 speed AWD transmissions have a metal shift linkage rod like our civics do...or does it had some oddball setup like cables for the shifting mechanism...i know its a hyrdo trans but im not worried about it...plus would anyone happen to have a picture of one of these bastards? i would like to see what it looks like...especially the back side of it so i can see if things are going to fit right or not..ive got a project in the works and i dont want to purchase one of these trans if i dont have proper information.

thank you

why the ---- would you try a project that will suck my *** just like the last 5 times somebody did it. The whole drivetrain on that setup is weak as ----, and is not nearly worth your time. unless maybe the new K24 models are better.

well see let me break it down for all u...i have a 91 hatch with an LS swap. I just bought a civic wagon 4wd and i was gonna swap everything over to make it all wheel drive with a d16z6. It wouldnt be too hard if i went D series but the thing is i have been building an ls/vtec motor on the side and my car is already b series...i dont want to go back to D series to have the AWD. Ive seen this done to a crx once...couple years back and i didnt have the chance to ask the guy how he did it. he only had the Z6 in there though. Funds im not worried about. Im wanting to find out where the 4wd mechanism is located like if its offset of in the center of the car like dsm's...if it centered then i need to find out if my LS axles and I-shaft will go right in. And last but not least if the shifting setup is also like our shift linkage rod style. If all these things are setup like that then i can use rear portion of the civic drive shaft and use the front portion of the crv driveshaft and i have a shop that is going to join them together as one....i know this sounds farfetched but im the type of guy if someone says it cant be done i will do it. And ive always wanted awd drive but i dont wanna give up my civic to do it cause i love it so much....so you see my dilema here? help a brother out...i work soo much that i dont have time in the day to check one out. So sometime im gonna look at one but until then im gonna try to research as much as possible.

thanks

louie

oh...if the crv setup doesnt work...then im just gonna go back to D...sell all the mass of tons of B series motors/stuff i have and build the D series motor so i can actaully run good numbers.

just go find a wrecked one, bring that bitch home and start going to town. on a project like this where very little people have done the job correctly, there are going to be very few people to tell you what you need to know.

its all a matter of trial and error. measure twice, cut once.

both have been done, neither worked very well, it is not worth the time spent.
