Re:92gti vr6 turbo vs. BBKA for money?
Heh my glory story is beating a brand spankin new Viper with temp tags. Yeppers the tiny 1.5 turbo hatch handed the Viper chicks *** to her. ---- was funny as hell and the people at Chick-fil-A were clapping and roaring with laughter. dumb blond missed 2nd AND 3rd while I was already at the top of 3rd at 90 reaching for 4th probably 7-10 cars out on front rofl.
I didnt even want to race the thing cause hell, they arent that fast for what they are but will spank a turbo single cam anyday. She revved at me and sort of pointed and laughed so its on now bitch! Whos laughing now weeeeee.

no no no no no no no
there is an enormous store/crew of insane vw's up here such as mk2 gti gr6 supercharged, a2 jetta vr6 turbo... 1.8t's are weak a guy has a cabby up here with a audi 1.8t with 25 grand under the hood and runs 14.2 in the quarter at sea level... vw's arent slow but they really arent jack ---- either... a stock vr6 turbo makes roughly 250 hp if it's an mk3, mk4's which are the newer style make roughly 180 to the wheels stock, my friends mk3 makes 180 to the wheels now with heavy mods....

I don't understand what the big deal is. Race him, and if you win well... fine. If you don't, race him again after you fix up your engine. I don't see the big del if you don't race for money.
One more thing. Since I'm from europe I realy don't see the pint in going fast in a straight line. Most roads (well maybe not in the U.S) are not straight but curvy. I know it's racing tradition and all, but many people here in Europe share my point of view. That's wy I hate old amcars cos they are like a sled on weels. (Get why I love this page? ) Don't get all puffed up about this, it's just my thougt's on dragracing

There's two things about an 01 GTI VR6 that put it as a disadvantage: 1) It weighs 3,000 lbs, approximately 500 pounds more than it's older MK2 bretheren 2) and it's still the less powerful 12v variant.
I myself used to own a 96 GTI VR6, and, while it is no push over n/a, I was also researching turbo'ing it and was only a few parts away from having my complete kit when I realized this was too expensive for me. Even my 96 GTI tipped the scales at a little less than 3,000 pounds, so they are indeed heavy beasts, but if you've ever driven one, you'd be crazy not to be impressed
In my research I've found stock block VR6s can handle around 15psi of boost, so be careful, if the guy has the more potent form of C2 engine management (which was recommended to me back in my days of wanting to turbo it), he can turn the boost up to 15psi. I doubt he has any of the stand alone solutions, as it's already expensive enough to swap the VR6 and turbo it, much less shell out 1,000+ dollars on engine management.
