Default 90dx's project thread updated at bottom 01/01/07

I always like reading others project threads so I thought I would make one for my current project I just started.I picked up this 88 CRX SI in exchange for a HMT kit install for a somewhat local.Plans are to attempt to get into the high 11's with a purely home built ride and make around 350whp.I ate Mr Noodles all winter as well as gave up on having much of a social life for a while to buy parts but I think it will be worth it in the end.

The setup is as follows:
Engine- B18a block,SRP pistons,Tuner Toys rods,ACL bearings,Honda CTR crank pulley,ARP head studs, new OE Honda Vtec oil pump and water pump. The head is a B16 head i got from Murdoc that is in mint shape and will be running stock B16 cams[for now] and all stock valve train, intake manifold etc.
Tranny- LS cable with a OBX diff,Clutch specialties 6 puck unsprung with there heavy duty pressure plate and DSS stage 2 axles
Chassis- 8 point Comp Eng. roll bar U-weld kit[gonna have a ticketed welder friend help with this],JK MotorSports traction bars, full Energy Supension kit and currently shopping for a spring/coilover setup but looking like Skunk drag kit is most affordable.
Engine Management-OBD1 conversion,MSD 750cc injectors,Walbro pump and Crome Pro tuned by me
Turbo-Still need to buy some more parts here so far only a SSwastegate and a used SS T3/T4 57trim .50 .63 that is getting sent to Blaast for a preventitive rebuild.Still need a manifold, intercooler and BOV.

Donor car for swap I got from a body shop for $500CDN

Here is the CRX as it arrived looking rather homosexual and in desperate need of de-ricing.

Took the intake manifold and valve cover in to work and used the cabinet with glass media to clean it up.I repainted the valve cover in black crinkle and clear coated the manifold. They turned out pretty good i love glass media.

Loaded up the engine parts to go to machine shop to have the block decked, hot tanked, bored .25mm,crank polished, rotating assembly balanced and the head prepped for LS/Vtec install.I will do the assembly myself.

Got started this weekend on first removing the big gay graphics with a heat gun and some 3M citrus based glue etc remover.I ended up chipping the paint in a couple places but it still looks way better.

Then gutted interior, chipped all the sound insulation off the floor as well as gutted under the hood for cleaning and painting.

I got the front suspension from my 90 hatch transfered over and teh wheel wells painted tonight and will install traction bars tommorow.Big thanks to Murdoc for the absolutely mint B16 head as well as HMT classifeds& sponsors where i got all most all the parts so far.I'm hoping to have it completed by mid to late June for drag strip duties. The only part Im a little worried about is the fact i have to tune it as Im pretty novice tuner but Crome looks easy to use and I cant justify paying someone else to tune it when i bought a LM1 for the same cost.

I love black too the paint is only a year old its Viper black but it got beat from removing decals fixing stuff etc so I might actually go get it resprayed after.I wish i had a cabinet at home but I might go buy one soon here and get a man size compressor to run it.I jus wish i had time to do the block in it it would look awesome.

I will be.Gonna make some trips to Mission for sea level drags as well as Calgary where i was thinking of spending a few dollars and get a chip burned and tuned on C16 by a good tuner for the track.Maybe get my tune cleaned up a little too after.

Well i got the front end moved over from the Hatch including the spindles, brakes, control arms, camber kit and shocks/springs.Installed the JK motorsports traction bars and they are a really nice unit for the money and will work well with the aluminum rad from B18turboef.

Im gonna be working 12's all week so I probably wont get a ton done but I would like to get all the rear components transfered over from the hatch as it has all new bushings, drum brakes,Tokicos etc.I checked my voice mail too and the machine shop has my stuff ready so hopefully Saturday i can get down there to pick it up and get going on the assembly of engine and OBX diff install.
