Default 87 Nissan Stanza?

I know we're primarily a Honda people here.. but maybe someone can help me out here.

I found a 1987 Nissan Stanza for sale. $300, needs a headgasket, perfect shape though. I've been trying to look (via internet)to see if the stock engine is any good, or if I can swap, or if the car is complete junk... can anyone help me out here?

Derby car? Potentially. Actually, its funny you said that because behind those buildings in the background is where the fair is held, more specifically the demolition derby, which now has a sport compact league :P

Yes, 5 speed. What engines came in these?

If its fuel injected, should be the ca20e engine w/ a whopping 102hp lol. If I remember right, they had a dual spark plug setup on those.

Dual spark plugs? pimp.

Hows the torque?

So basically, this would almost be like driving a Civic DX?

I saw some kid on cardomain who was "going to" swap an sr20det in his, but I didnt physically see it in. So who knows.

torque was not good either, peak of 117 at 3500 if I remember right. I used to have a 200sx with the CA20e way way back. hell thats only 6 more ft/lbs than a freakin B16.
Although, it had a pretty low C/R, so I bet it would take well to boost, mu hahahaha. Have fun with the MAF.

A friend had one of those in automatic. Slowest car ever!

The little button thing to release the key from the ignition was the most annoying thing about that car.

If it's only a HG then I'd say go for it.
But who knows what else it needs once you do get it running.
