it would just have a retardely low idle and low redline.

also note that with the specs that they are bragging about, it's comparing horsepower and not torque, well in the real world, engines do not develop horsepower, they develop torque, horsepower is a matmatical calculation, they prey on that in the presnetation, sure it may have a zillion cylinders, but in order for it do any kind of work, it needs to have torque, and the only way we know so far is to use a reciprocating assembly to put physical pressure on a turning rod i.e crankshaft, like a giant screwdriver. this design is like the rotary, sure you get some high output and multiple firing sequences, and a 3 rotor is comparable to a piston engine with much more cylinders than 3, but since there is not much area on the rotor for torque to be devloped, it isn't capable of doing much work, imagine the size of a rotary engine you would need to run a highway tractor down the highway with a 40 ton load, not to mention the emissions it would produce.

actually he was saying that it would produce something like 800+ ft-lbs of torque at 800rpm and boasting that the Bugatti Veyron(sp?) would do that only at red-line.

Yeah i think professor dipshit needs to get some thing straight. How can you even remotely compare any gas to diesel engine? Now if he compared the torque of it to the torque of a regular big rig engine, then that would be a beter example.

i would like to see how he plans on setting up ignition timing and feul delivery. I dont see any way he can fab an intake manifold on that thing.

first of all i dont thing that wole engine outside size would even displace 850 ci even if you droped it into a buket of water adn measered teh inclearse in volume second how would those pistons seal in that circular combustion chanimber and one more thing how can that tiney 3/4 in aluminum shaft supposed to hold all that power my brigs and straton 3.5 hp has a more powerful 1 in shaft made out of american steel! i guess there shaft must be made out of supertitanocrapalloy that was devoloped in their lab utilizing their other "magical" technology. :1

It is a good idea, he just needs to get it running off fuel under its own power and get a video of it on an engine dyno or something.
the rotary engine was a great idea and still is. it is just the ******* at mazda cant research enough for it to last as long as normal engines. i think this idea will be the same.

with enough money u can drive a space ship in space, u can damn well build that little thing

You are wrong about the displacement. A cylindrical shaped object that is 10" in diameter and 12" long would have a displacement of 942 cubic inches. :1
