okay let me me talk about this ---- some more so you guys can flame all you want. 
keeps this topic interesting.
from the very beginning to the end of the Mayan calender is considered an AGE. there are 5 ages in the cycle of the planet. each are dominated by an element. in every Age there is roughly 5135 years. the ages are split up into 13 pieces each called the Baktun. there are more division within the baktun but it's not important so ill skip it. it's all considered a day count.
anyways, at every end of age the Mayan said that the dominating element takes over the last element. during the last element the Great Floods in the story of Noah took hold and a great deal of population of mankind was wiped off. that is what happen during the last cataclysm.
it was sometime after the last ice age when the ice caps begin to melt. the floods of caused the water level to rise an estimated 130 feet+ sea level. probably a heating cycle within the earth that caused the changed to happen dramatically.
this happened during the last end of the Mayan calender now it could of that end of the age is 11 August 3114 before current Era. now the cataclysm.. didn't happen on that day. but sometimes around that time line.
now the end of this current age.. will fold... i have no idea.. is there going to be another cataclism.. i don't know.. there could be one..
it is said that the dominant element in that age is Ether...
Galactic alignment is when the sun is aligns with the center of the galaxy as we know the center of the galaxy is a black hole. and the black hole Is the Singularity. a singularity.. it's basically GOD.. its everything packed into one.. time space light, infinite energy. all that we do know and all that we don't know. it transcends above everything..
and well as Stephen hawking crippled *** has explained it.. a black hole isn't necessarily a sucking vacuum hole. but it emits X-ray and gamma ray energy's and also emits levels of light WELL beyond that which isn't even measurable with modern equipment.
Nasa says that during this time line the sun will be at Solar Maximum. and the information being emitted by the Galactic black hole is.. well going to affect it.. and that in turn is going to affect us.. with pollution levels being the highest they ever been in 300,000 years. and a missing o zone layer and a weaken van allen radiation belt. i wouldn't be surprised that the sun will blaze us to death. but most likely it'll destroy crops and cause famine in great scale until solar maximum reduces. and like i posted in other topics.. 93% of the population could die off

agreed. I've heard a lot of opinions and theorys, but none like this.
I'm sure each person, each religion has their own way of believing how the world will end.
Personally, I believe that the world will definatley come to be a place of curuption and kaos. But whose to say its not that way already.
Its easy to not believe any of this, and not think twice if or not what everyone is talking about will someway or another come true in the end. It could be just a scare tactic for publishers and writers to make millions selling there books on the end of the world subject. everything comes to an end at some point.

Due to our brilliant scientific minds we're beginning to find there's more and more truth to the whole quantum physics. That things aren't necessarily limited by what we can see with our eyes. I personally think that there's more to the whole aether physics thing than has been allowed into the public arena (basically none). I think that since the magnetic poles are weakening there's the possibility of a polar shift. Not necessarily on Dec 21, 2012 but sometime.
There's also speculation that the physical and spiritual worlds will intersect and there will be a much higher percentage of spiritually attuned people leading up to it. And time time could also stop. After all, isn't time merely an element?
