its not that the mayan's predicted the end of the world, they just stopped making the calender.
In the ancient world, the mayan were pretty bad *** at astronomy, and they could see things in the heavens, like mars, jupiter, asteroids, and stuff like that. they even got so good, they could plot their orbits.
back to 2012: so they could see where planets and other solar system hazads would be and because math rules, they could extrapolate into the future.
so its like the mayan astronomers told the calendar making guy to not worry about it after 2012, or the calendar makers got bored and quit.

The Mayans didn't predict some catastrophe, the calender just ends. My money is on the Grays showing up on the white House lawn, give the government officianados the interstellar finger, and then rounding up all the chosen ones (People who have been abducted and tagged) 4400 style, and leaving the planet to self destruct. (Global warming, Al Gore says so).
Or nothings gonna happen but a bunch of DUI's getting racked up on New Years. Either way, there will be a gross display of uncontrollable knowlegeabilities on a Pulp Fiction type action scene.

im really thinking i should stay away from this subject...
as i have alot to say.. somehow involving certain extrastellar beings, time being folded and a parallel universes that is calapsing.
the end of the Mayan calender just doesn't abrutbly end as most people thing it just finishes.. the calendar is just circular not leanure as seen as the current Gregorian calender so it just re/rotates yet again.
what will happen beyond 2012.. donno.. i have no idea.. there isn't a tangleable future beyond that.. it keeps changing (literally there are people traveling to the future and time keeps changing after this current point.).. so nobody knows what happens beyond that.. until the time shift actually happens.. it something to do about time that had been folded from previous history.
