1st boost experience

Re:1st boost experience
Yeah, it's amazing how slow my 1st boost experience was- we had 35 psi, an enormous intercooler and 3 inch charge pipe leading to a motor putting out about 1500 lb/ft and 450 horsepower. Felt really torquey, though. Started in second and skipped every other gear all the way to tenth.

Re:1st boost experience
My first car was a 1988 thunderbird Turbo coupe. Although it was an auto and a pretty heavy car it was a lot of fun. When it was wet out I could spin the tires up to about 50 mph and have it sideways. I knew that engine quite well sine I had to rebuild it so many times lol. I swapped for a manual from a parts car I bought from a friend and loved it, unfortunatly no BOV sound from that car but still it was tons of fun. My dad let me buy it because he thought it would be really slow with a 4 banger as he called it....faster than he thought it was though.
Right now I'm working on a pontiac sunfire GT (yeah I know it doesnt quite fit in to honda's here but this is a general forum) Either way I cant wait to finish it, its a project car and will be turbocharged this summer or over the winter whenever i get time.

Re:1st boost experience
blackzc its a sunfire not a sunbird but basically the same car. They just renamed it for a different generation unlike the cavalier which kept the same name.
Either way I think the person you are referring to is on jbody.org and goes by the name scrufdog or mike from Baltimore, Md. Either way I figure I can hit low 14's to real high 13's with 8 - 10lbs of intercooled boost.
Just ordered "maxium boost" and a couple other books to learn more. Cant wait to get it and read it

88crxSi,
Just a slight correction.
In 95 Jbodies (sunfire & cavalier) had the choice of the 2.2 (120 hp) and 2.3 quad 4 (150 hp)
In 96 - 02 they had the choice of the 2.2 and 2.4
In 02 you could also get the ecotec (2.4 was an option) and now is 03 you get the ecotec 2.2 140 hp.
The 2.4 HO (180 hp) was only available in the beretta gtz and some other oldsmobile cars. A W4I version (190 hp) was also available in some oldsmobile cars.
I think you can still get the 2.4 in 03 as a special option but the only advantage is on the 00 + 2.4's with manuals you can get a factory GM supercharger and keep your warranty. No such option yet with the ecotec.
