Easy to work on (gf owns a '92 626, the NA version, very straightforward to work on). The engine and trans are stout (NA trans not so stout, but not weak on the NA motor) but parts are slightly rare. This is offset by the parts being $5 when you run across them. The online community for them is strong.

Stock they seem to run the same IHI turbo as the 80s Scoobies. With boost cranked up they are fun but not terribly fast. They usually come with a few options, sunroof, etc, which is part of the reason they aren't super fast but is part of the reason they are kinda cool.

The MAF is actually a vane air deal that operates on some wierd 0-9v scaling. I recommend throwing the stock ---- away and running a MS or cheap Honda AEM on it if you run something bigger than the stock turbo. If you want one of the Zombie chips I think I have a copy of it somewhere, and will hook you up for zero down and three easy installments of 1/3rd the cost of shipping.

If you just want something quirky, with a little more ***** than your 2.5RS, I say do it.

thanks joey. Info I wanted.

Subie is proving to be somewhat a bitch, to say the least. Its built to the max without a $5k swap, or a $2k suspension.

I can sell the scubie, pocket a few bucks, still haul the kid and the wife, plus groceries and still have fun with the car. Why not? Do you know any forums?

awaiting pictures of the engine

There are a number that I joined when converting the gf's car from auto to manual. Ultimately the forums are of limited use due to how few people build the cars. probetalk, IIRC, was one of them.
