Re: 04-06 R1 or 03+ ducati 749
don't dick around with a duc especialy the 749 I rode one and it's slower then my 03 600rr rides like crap and eats clutches due to being a dry clutch setup. the r1 is a awesomely built bike that will provided years of fun and still scrare the crap out of you by pulling the wheel off the ground at 110+

I am trying to go with full coverage on this bike, and im getting quotes of ------- 6k per year on a R1 vs 500 per year liability. I never would have ran down those old ladies and crippled school children if i knew it would affect my insurance like this

the smaller ducatis are not as fast, but still fun.
hell.. get a air cooled sport classic, they are fast enough and pretty bad ***... plus have enough room to easily turbo that bad bitch.

An In-line is going to out perform a shitbox V twin everyday on the calender and twice on holidays.
Ducati's are hit and miss. I liked working on them (most SBK models at least) but they have the weirdest problems of any maufacturer I've come across. We got two identicle 1098's in one day. Both off the same assembly line the same day ect. One started up and ran perfectly the other ran like absolute fecis, stalled, didn't pass emissions, all with no codes. After hours of one tech working on it Ducati had to fly a rep out to the shop to do a tear down. His conclusion...WTF IDK what's wrong it should be running fine.
Same thing witht the 749's and some of thier other models. Hand-made crap with a high rate of fail. Good luck getting parts for some of the ----. There have been back-orders to Italy for over a year in some cases.
The Japanese know how to make fast, affordable, and reliable bikes period.
P.S. Italian bikes with dry clutches sound like they are going to come apart at any second. Yuck1

1098 are ------- slow. the 1125r owns it bigtime, R1s are faster than both
