Well, on one hand i have a 1000cc bike with tons of high end power, which is what I would use the bike for since I do 90% freeway, and on the other hand i have the porsche of bikes with less to end power but more mid range power/torque. I think I am gonna go with the R1. ---- the twistys i'd rather do 300mph and test darwins theory.

That and ducks like to blow front seals if you set them down too hard after a wheelie. A fragile maintainence piece isn't a rider's dream.

I really wouldn't call it the Porsche of motorcycles. Modern Porsches are built similar to Japanese cars in terms of engineering, whereas consistently oil leaking less than 100% robust Ducatis are really ------- definitely 100% pasta engineering. Much like OG British sportscars they have soul, but they aren't the flawless appliance-like infallible machines the jap bikes are.

BTW, Darwin will own your ***. Dunno if I should say good riddance or I'll miss you. Good luck.

incorrect. that r1 makes a TON more power throughout the rev range.

r1 and 1098 BOTH have roughly 130hp at the wheels stock... their power bands are almost identical.. go compare charts...

but the real test is riding the two... its no question.

he's talking about the 749. don't get me wrong, ducati's are a beautiful thing, i just have no more room in my heart for anything else european since my garage is filled with 3 VW's.
