Default $60 for a 89 hatch

i got a 89 hatch for $60. it has all the stuff to run, but doesn't for some reason. and when i turned the key, the gauge cluster started smoking, and the speedo cable melted. don't know why, but i need to know. it has a si head with an AEM tru time cam gear and metal head gasket from fel pro. it has z3 fendors. the inside is fucked, no interior, tons of trash, no windows, leaves, and one seat. no radio or ICE, and the dash is all fucked up, but its a great parts car, and for only $60- just can't say no

speedo cable should not have melted off, it is a cable, solid cable, no electricity goes thru it.

Now all the other cables to the gauge cluster is a different story. Short Circuits like that are hard to find, but you more than likely have a short in that melted wire, or in that wire's circuit. Follow the wire up and down and try to find the problem. If really difficult to diagnoze those types of problems over the net.

Just use the parts. This is another car right? not your hatch, just a parts car. If it had the a6 head and tranny you can use them, if it has the MPFI swap already just swap everything out. For $60 is a great deal.

no its another std. you know dual port 4 speed. im not sure about the head, i think its an a6, i know its not vtec, and it has an AEM Tru Time pulley on it. and a brand new metal head gasket. and what is an LCA? and a UCA? oh lower and upper control arms, haha im dumb. the speedo cable has a plastic-rubber type thing around it, that melted.

lol i found it. the guy who has it right now moved the battery into the car, and has a bunch of different 0 guage wire everywhere. he had the positive terminal hooked up to the ground on the tranny, instead of the starter where it should be. so when i turned the key, ---- smoked. i fixed it, but it still wont even turn over. good battery and brand new starter. im pretty sure i blew every fuse under the dash so thats where ill start looking. any suggestions would really help though
