Default tight budget, wanna add a few hp.

car is d16 civic.

so i was slowly parting together my parts.. having got very far... but i found a gt15 for dirt cheap.. 75$ canadian.. no shaftplay, spins free, good shape and whatnot.. i know this turbo is small as hell.. i plan on building my spare block and buying a gt30 and having it all done by next season..
my question is. since this turbo apparently max's out around 150hp.. from the little bit of into i have been able to find on them.. would it be a waste of time buying this? i would just get my cousin to fab be a addapter to attach it to the stock manifold . i just wanna add a bit of power so maybe once my suspension is done i will have a bit more fun with it when i wanna go to the track.

dumb question..first post..

ok. you would have virtually no lag but you should definitely run an intercooler, that turbo will be throwing some heat out. and after its all said and done i don't see you being very impressed with it but it would definitely add some hp and you will go faster but when u want to upgrade down the road you will need to change the exhaust flanges on both ends and probably re route some piping. if it was me i would say save the money and buy a t-3 its really not hard to find and its a decent turbo to start from plus its the most common flanges. Get a .42/.48 from a saab or something out of a junkyard for cheap and throw that on it would be a much better route. Junkyards around here sell turbos for $52.50 us dollars.

good luck with your build, and what ever you decide to do post it up.

Yea. I just wasn't sure of how the results woukd be. Never heard of anyone using as small of turbo on a build. Searched everywhere. I already have a mishimoto intercooler.
I'm not aiming huge here. Just want a bit more power. I'm gonna be building my spare d16 and boostin with a gt30 probly.

Yes, it would be a waste of time and money. If you must have a turbo now, look for a mitsu off a DSM or a turbododge, they won't be spitting out hot air at those power levels and if someone is charging you more than $50 they are ripping you off. The dodge has a bolt pattern similar to a T3 too, so an upgrade will be easy.

I used a gt15 on a fiat 1.5 liter.. sure looks small but works great can make up to 13 psi with the stock actuator. boost all the way to redline of 6900. I use an intercooler but see no more heat than the t3 on my 1.8 liter, I might be right at the edge of what you can get away with using the gt15 on.
Honestly a 1.5 liter 8valve is going to flow alot less exhaust then a 16v honda engine.. you might be best off with a t2 to prevent it becoming a restriction in the exhaust.
