Default NEED EX. WASTEGATE ADVICE!!!!!

alright, after determining that the internal wastegate actuator did not open the flapper far enough... time for an external, i only want 7psi max (8 at the absolute MOST).. i would like to go low enough to use a boost controller to dial it in better..... this is a wastegate i found that i like, but i emailed the seller and he says its 4psi cracking, and nothing about fully opened, could you guys help?

ebay item number : 380346997984 , sorry the link i posted wouldnt work.

just modify your internal wastegate linkage. if you lengthen the rod on the actuator you will reduce the boost. if you shorten the rod then you will increase boost.

ive gone through and tryed getting this fact. internal to work........ it actually has turned out that the rod only moves about 1/4 of an inch, and the flapper door moves about 1in.

I was under the impression that external wastegates are better for set ups running 10 psi or higher boost?? The wastegate you are looking at on ebay is well dont take this the wrong way but it's ---- try for a used tial or synapse and try to keep the size to 38mm wastegate wise...

yes. you have to modify the rod to allow for more movement. i use a long adjuster nut and a bolt. i cut the stock rod and weld on the screw and nut. this will allow plenty of rod movement to adjust the boost to whatever level you want. less than 5.00 at the hardware store.

So by lengthen the WG rod, the door is hanging open a little?

Thank,
Kevin

if you legthen the wastegate rod too much. yes the wastegate flapper will flop around and stay open. you only need to lengthen the rod enough to lower the spring pressure alittle. if there is still spring pressure from the actuator then the flapper will not be open. only if you over come the actuator spring pressure will the flapper stay open.

Ok, I see. Thank you for clearing that up for me. It doesn't take much adjustment then!
Thanks,
Kevin
