IHI RHB5 Turbo Rebuild "How To" Thread!!!!
Sorry to link this, but I figured I'd give you guys access to my rebuild thread instead of beating yourselves up over how to do it. I'll try to cut, copy and paste the info when I have a little more time. Feel free to sticky if you'd like. Also check out the second link as it shows what to look for when rebuilding an IHI RHB5 series.

Really cool document man. Thanks.
I wouldnt get too upset if you dont get a sticky though.
Jus tone doubt. Everybody seems to refer to the IHI RFB5 like it was one turbo. When in actuall fact there are dozesn of diffirent turbos from only oil cooled to oil and watter cooled from tiny to large all with the IHI RFB5 name.
The diffirence only being the VI13, VI34 etc after the name.
Friging Rocking man I found a gold mine of info on the IHI Turbo man oh man.
Im stoked.

It doesn't matter though, internals wise they're all the same so long as you're dealing with a floating bearing type and not ball bearing. There are RHB5's that are ball bearing and obviously the rebuild would be somewhat different.

You mean as in money? Total cost for me was $150, granted I drove to TurboCity myself. Either way, they're a popular entry level turbo and most if not all IHI are strikingly similar. This info is good for a vast majority of IHI's
