Default FJT and boost.

I have recently been collecting parts for my d16z6 turbo build (hard to get done with limited money). I almost have everthing to get started. This being my first build I've done lots of research, the other day a friend on mine had told me that the vitara and rod combo i chose with an 8.5 cr is too low for my to gt28 50 trim with .63 hot side, and that i should at least go 9.5 cr. Any input on this?

With the knowledge i have, i would have to say that you should be in good shape. 8.5:1 will be ideal for a gt28 or any turbo build for that matter. You want to lower the compression so you can shove more air into your engine. On the other hand, and with a big wallet you can do a high compression turbo build. You will make more horsepower at a lower boost setting with high compression. But if i were you, i would use what you have and get a solid dyno tune and have fun beatin up on some v8's.
