Default b16 vs. gsr head

Hey guys, i'm doing ls/vtec turbo. I'm wondering which head raises the compression more and what the going rate usually is for a b16 or gsr head with intake manifold, sensors, tb and everything.

Thanks,

Stan

b16 is lower comp then the gsr head but not by much.

both heads coast about the same, a complet head should be around 500-650.

keep in mind that its easyer to find intake maifolds for the b16/itr.

You wouldn't want the gsr intake manifold anyway. It's that dual plane design with the butterfly that who knows what controls it.

My 94 gsr head is at the machine shop sitting in flawless stock condition. I just don't have the $130 to bail him out.

doesnt the gs-r ecu come into play in controlling those? IAB's or some crap like that.

possibly, but who knows? And most don't end up using that ecu. You can buy gsr intake manifolds on ebay for $10, which tells you how much they are worth. Yep, $10.

use the P72 to control them or use a chipped p06 ecu.

I'm a big fan of the GSR heads. I like the combustion chamber config and I like how the intake ports are bigger. If your worried about the butterflys on a GSR intake manifold just take it out. 6 bolts and they come right out.

GSR intake ports are 'raised' with a steeper entry angle than a B16.

I am more interested in the gsr head. I don't think their funky intake manifolds will be a big problem if I remove the butterflies, or just set them open all the time. Could always pick up a skunk2 manifold for it.

I'm still looking! Jeff, I know you have some laying around!
