well i got alot done today! very suprise on the progress i made! if i didnt have to stop and pick up the kids and watch hells kitchen lol i might be able to fire this thing up this evening but tomorrow is another day and im really close to being able to run it without boost to the dyno shop.

So up first was the intercooler install which of course requires removing the bumper... let me tell ya, wasnt a walk in the park with these meaty fingers of mine but i made happen

then mounted the EMUSA 31x11x3 bar and plate intercooler.

then of course started running charge piping

while running the lling pipe, i ran the wastegate reference line and oil pump wiring

then ran the 4an oil feed and the 10an oil drain lines and set them into place then zipped everything up into place

and the oil pump has been mounted into position and connected to the oil lines for length measuring

also bolted the turbo-back exhaust back up (only way i cen think to call it lol)

tomorrow ill connect everything and maybe run fluids into the fuel and oil lines.

and im an idiot lol
so yeah my leaking issue was that i didnt reinstall the oil gasket off the stock oil block onto the new one... so took off the oil block, cleaned off my half *** copper gasket sealant, in placed the stock gasket in there, bolted it down and PRESTO! no more leaky leaky lol hey if thats all the oops i get outta this, then i can live with it lol.

So the car is up and running and ready for a tune, save for installing the MAP and 60lbs injectors. havnt driven it yet but it sounds solid. DAMN the pump is loud. so id image that if it went out that i would know becasue it would get quiet all of a sudden lol plus a plum of smoke probley would be a big indicator.

pretty much i just let it idle while i checked for any leaks. i think i might have one by the pump but im not sure. ill double check in the morning after it cools and has a chance to sit. the old "staring at a pot to boil" thing lol

pretty much just gotta get the bumper on and get the damn thing tuned. i think ill leave the bumper off so i can get it tuned so that i can assess any of the the stuff just incase it needs adjusting or what ever.

I also taped a hole in the charge pipe so that i can put the IAT sensor in there. i just used a grommet and made sure it was tight. the grommet has kinda like a barb design to it so it shouldnt come out. and since most of you have done this without insident im going this route unless it gets poped out, then ill do the typhoon threaded sensor.

cant wait to get ti tuned now

heres some extra pics

Thanks for posting pictures! Great build. I own a 2000 FB with a 3800. I have started ordering parts. I am going with a rear mount and just going to run 4psi until I can build me another engine with dished pistons and other high performance parts. Might go with a gen 3 3800. You are running stock injectors right now? I have had 3 turbo v6's. 2 300zx turbos, converted one NA Auto to a turbo 5 speed, and a 300zx twin turbo. With your LS you are going to have crazy HP and Torque. I am assuming I can run 4 psi on stock 3800. I will have a AFR gauge and watch it like a hawk. My FB has an Auto transmission but from what I have read the only difference between the v8 tranny and the v6 tranny is the bell housing.

im not sure how the v6 will respond to a rear mounted turbo, but with a v6 you have more room to put it up front. i mean you can do it, but the biggest reason us v8 guys do it is because realistate is really tight up front and dont want to lose the AC. but by all means see what you can do if you really want to. id image youd need a slightly smaller turbo then what im runnning. in rearmount for the V6, a 60mm turbo would probably be very responsive in rearmoutn form and not choke it too much.

you are correct, for now im on stock injectors since i cant drive the car with the 60lbs injectors until i get a tune lol i tryed though lol

ug, still trying to trouble shoot the AEM injection system... still giving me issues.. cant seem to get a good 15amp trigger source.

on a good note, i removed the licsens plate area so now its wide open for some fresh air
witht he cover on...

... and without

looks pretty good. without fogs is kinda growing on me, although id still like the option of having them...

When you are talking about 60mm turbo, I assume you are talking about the turbine? Are you talking major or minor? Looks good with the tag plate off! Maybe I should go with a front mount. Rear mount just looks easier and I love that turbo whine. I still have a lot of research to do before I start actually running this turbo. I am so used to Nissan. Nissan uses cc's instead of pounds and I have got to find out what duty cycle stock injectors are at with a 205 hp 3800.

i guess im referring to the compressor. something like a T60 with .81 or smaller ar turbine housing to help keep spool up on the V6. i know the STS bas kit starts out with a 60 and its tiny on our v8s. its a good strret turbo, but once you go into the higher RPM range that LS motors like to operate at and build most of their power from, that trubo starts run out of steam quick with V8s. a V6 id image would be pretty happy with it since its not pushing as much air. This is all hypothetical since i have no experience with the V6 gm engines on this. im sure if you go on the f-body forums they have way more info then i could give you lol but yeah, a rear mount would be really easy, but with the room you got up front, id go with a front mount and keep the package as tight as possible. you could also put a larger turbo up front too.

Well I bought a T3-04. I used to run a JWT T3-04 hybrid on one of my 300zx's. Here are the numbers on the one for the Firebird. Nice color Firebird you have btw, same as mine

2.130" Inducer
2.755" Major
2" Compressor Outlet
T04B/T4 Type Compressor Housing
Compressor .49 A.R.
Compressor .50 Trim
8 Blade Type T4 Compressor Wheel
Turbine Specs :
T3 Type Turbine flange
T3 5 bolt flange
Turbine .63 A.R.
2.205" Minor and 2.570" Major Propellar
T3 Turbine Housing
2.274" Outlet
12 Blade Type Turbine

wow that thing is tiny lol well at least compared to mine lol
my turbo looks like this
ON3 T76 w/.96 AR
Compressor Wheel - 76mm /.80 ar / 4” Inlet and 2.5” outlet
Compressor Outlet - Inducer- 76.71mm / Exducer- 102.36mm
Exhaust Housing - T-4 Flange .96 ar / 3.0" Vband outlet
Exhaust housing - Inducer- 74.5mm / Exducer- 65mm

ON3 does make aT70 that might be pretty good for your V6 in front mount form. i feel that the T3 inlet would be a tad small for the V6 inlet on the front mount. on a rear mount i suppose it would be ok. lol funny thing is i got a T3/T4 T70 .81 AR cheapy ebay turbo laying around that i was gonna use but then decided to go with the T76 T4 turbo.

The reason I got one so small is because I am only going to run 4 psi until I build a stronger 3800 and then I will buy a good turbo and go with a front mount. I am going to do this as a rear mount. Hehe, this turbo was an ebay special but I have talked to a guy that bought the same turbo from the same ebay vendor and he said he ran it at 12 psi on a camaro 3.1 for 3 thousand hard miles and said it was working fine when he changed it. Quote"Ive ran 2 different ebay turbos now. Absolutly no issues at all with them. The first one I got was a cheep cheep one. 118 bucks. But I had it for about 3k hard drag racing miles and never had a issue. The new one I have is a godspeed gt3582. Great turbo."
