Default 95 dx coupe d157 ebay turbo build

Hello all i have a few questions, but first i will give you the background. I have a 95 civic coupe dx with a d15 motor. I am currently rebuilding the block back to stock. I am looking for a tranny swap. From what i have heard and read i am looking for an si or ex tranny. I live in a area where a lot of the kids dont have money over flowing but want to turbo there civics. So i have decided to do a budget build on this donor car with a writeup.
i am looking to run between 8-10 psi not to extreme just a little fun but still a daily driver type setup..
Ok. here are the questions.
1. i want to run a tuned car but i need a list of the parts so i can tune myself. Like what type of ecu is compatible, what kind of wide-band perm or portable, cables, chips, and the best software for ease of tune , etc.
2. I seen Xenocron website. Is there a way to get in touch with him so i can get a build sheet together with him and order from him?
3. Looking to get in touch with an experienced d series builder for advice, tricks and tips.

I know i could do a swap, but i want to stick with the little d series. I want to get this setup going so i can help them build their cars.
If i can get this tuning thing down then that will be a big money saver to them also.
We also do not have any junkyards around here close its about 2 hrs away to the closet one. I know some people don't like the eBay turbos, but on the other side i know people who have had great success with them.
looking at this turbo setup here:http://www.ebay.com/itm/GODSPEED-DEL...sories&vxp=mtr

If anyone has eBay turbo experience and knows a good brand please let me know. Thanks for your time......W

Hi, I know this is an old post but Ill answer it anyway since its so similar to what im researching. Im going to be building the same thing your talking about. A 1993 honda civic 4door with a 1.5l sohc non vtec d15b7. I have the same boost goals. Here is what ive learned so far but im new to this and never turbod a car yet so it may have errors.

Here is my shopping list:
1: CROME tuning program, free or $150 for CROME PRO with datalogging ability
2: Socketed and Chipped OBD1 Honda ECU (all the obd1 d-series ecu's work more or less) $100 or you can choose the DIY route and do the chip and socket install yourself. kit for that is $40 but for the peace of mind Id buy the socketed and chipped ecu because they test them to make sure they work.
3: Moates Ostrich emulator, to connect your chipped/socketed Honda ECU to your laptop for tuning. $150
4: Hulog cable to connect your Honda ECU and your wideband to a datalogger like CROME pro or Freelog. $50
5: Innovate LC-1 wideband o2 kit, $200 on e-bay

From what I read you usually download a basemap similar to your cars setup from the web and load it up on your tuning program to give you a good starting point to tune your specific engines needs. This basemap is just a starting point, theres still a good bit of tuning work to do.

Something else that should help your engine survive under boost is a set of ARP headstuds, they will help your headgasket hold up to the extra pressure inside your turbo engine.

Bigger injectors and fuel pump are a good idea too but Ive read peoples opinions that you can get away without them if you dont go past about 10psi but thats something to look into. Plymouth Laser turbo, Eclipse turbo, Talon turbo ect are known as DSM cars and are popular injector sources for a swap. Have a look on ebay for injectors from these cars, they go for about $100 to $300 flow tested and rebuilt. Your stock injectors in a d15b7 are 240cc and a popular dsm upgrade is 440cc injectors but its not good to go to big with them (idle and cold start up problems over 500cc) so you should research that before you buy. The DSM injectors require a resistor box from a late 80's to early 90's honda. It has to be wired up to your oem harness on your 92-95 obd1 civic and your DSM injector clips/plugs. Its easy to find a wiring how to on that if you search.

I have an ebay turbo and have done some reading up on them, apparently the oil line configuration is critical to a good working turbo. -3an line(3/16th inch) inlet oil line and -10an(5/8th inch) return line is a popular setup, and many people suggest you use a .60 to .65 oil restrictor on the EBAY TURBOS ONLY, that doesnt apply to name brand turbos (unless they have ball bearings) as much if at all.

You can also try searching for videos on the moates ostrich, hulog, and chipped/socketed ecu and crome tutorials. I found them to be helpfull to get an idea of the parts you need and how they are installed and used to tune your car. You can find videos to help you chip and socket a obd1 honda ecu if you look around too.

It may be in your intrest to buy a few books on efi tuning theory to get a handle on tuning techniques. Im planning to do this before attempt any turbo related mods to my car.

Hope this helps, its what Ive learned over the last few days of research into turboing my Honda obd1 D15. Im new to this too and am not an expert so you should double check things I said because I dont have any real world experience turboing and tuning a car yet.
