Re: 400hp 02 Kia Spectra GS - Build Thread
Slow on the updates. But have been Uber busy.
This build has not been taken over by myself and WILL be installed in the my white Spectra shown. Customer sold his car and will be heading back out of the country, so naturally I am continuing this the way I want. I have barely touched the car in the last month since orders take priority. Right now the block/trans is getting pulled from the car then the entire car will be getting prepped for paint. Engine bay/interior/exterior will all be repainted once the the 8point cage and other panels/bracing are done.
As for the Turbo end of things, parts are basically stacking up in the corner while the car is being attended too. The OEM rods are quite stout, but with the goals I have for this motor, they would have to be replaced eventually.
Parts that came in a few weeks ago:
Pauter Rods
Toga High Volume Oil Pump
Toga Bearings
Wiseco 9.5:1 Pistons/pins/rings
Copper Head Gasket (will be using the OEM 2-layer steel gasket though)
I'll have fabrication pics up later this week hopefully.

see im still confused.. wouldnt it have been cheaper to throw in a built turbo honda motor with some fabbed motor mounts then to make all this kia madness? its a freakin kia... im just not seeing it.. it looks to me like a good money maker for you, and a good piece of scrap in a few months... for him
good luck though.. prove me wrong, id like to see my first fast kia. ha that even sounds dumb.

This is also MY build now, not a customer as stated in my last post. Kia's are far from good money makers. Main reason is the low demand for parts.
I have been working with this car and the T8D motors for the past 5 years and would take it over ANY D-series motor, and several other Honda motors. Just because the aftermarket support is not there, does not mean the potential is not. FYI when the spectra was last running it ran a mid 14's and trapped at 97mph with stock block, stock 9.5:1 compression, 7,000 rpm redline, NO tune and BROKEN Maf sensor.... naturally aspirated of course. But I guess there is no potential there.
I still have dreams to build an N/A beast, but right I got the chance to really take it to the limit and I will.
If you are bored, you can watch some old videos of the spectra before this Turbo build started.
