GSR/Ek dash into an EG body. the wiring and cutting ha..cutting is fabrication?
OKAY i have had a few requests to do a write up on how i went about doing this..there are people that have done this and went out and bought:
complete dash
cluster
harness
integra heater fans
integra brackets.
and then cutting up the bar that holds the steering column.. i was like ---- all that
all i had was a dash
cluster
and the underdash harness from a 97 or older integra. it is prefered but you can do this with a dash from a 94-01 integra.
you will need a general knowledge of wiring.. and an understanding of what you do the harnesses from an eg do a dc are way different.. this is all about switchin some pins and soldering a FEW wires.. now you must be patient.. i had fun when i was doing this..
FIRST!
remove your old dash and pull your harness out of it.. you will be using both harnesses to mate them together.if you cant even get your dash out.. i would put it back together and call yourself a dumbfuck and sell your car. to one of us at a starting bid of one penny.
to get it out you have to get the steering wheel off.. very simple.. two torx bolts and a 19 mm i believe.. and if you have an airbag just remove and unclip all of that. and you will need to take your signal lever and washer lever off two screws on each. and jjust LOOK at how they come off.. its not that hard..
get under the dash and unhook all 3-4 plugs goin to your fuse box on the drivers side. pull your cd player, cassette or 8 tracks however you roll haha.. if its easy for you just mark all of the connections but the ones on the fuse box are colored.. your heater and ac control will unplug from your heater fan unit.. and just leave it connected to the unit in the dash. no need to take it out. your integra ones will plug right into your fan.
so in other words just get the dash out of the car and take the harness and dash inside.
now put your EG harness into your gsr dash.
i did this one wire at a time. do it right and solder they are small wires and you dont want to be hunting down whats goin wrong..
here are the diagrams
the srs goes like this if you are goin from an eg to ek/dc
yellow-blue
black-black
blue-yellow
(thats if you didnt get pissed and break all the clips on the airbag system) i just removed mine we'll say.. haha
now i was reading that you had to use your EG hazard button becuz if you hooked up your eg harness into the DC hazard your blinkers dont work well one does and thats when you push the harzard button. so you have to look at your integra harness and copy those pins to the eg. repinning isnt too bad just take the clip apart..
i know it wouldnt focus or else i would have more wiring pictures for you guys.
and on the front of the clip you will stick a safety pin down there and push down on a little lever you can see the lever on the empty slots. push it down and pull the wire out.. just take your time and done break or pull too hard.. copy the pins to match that of your gsr.. doin it this way is easier than cutting the clips and soldering color to color. and cleaner.
AFTER the wiring is done.. this was just just tougher stuff. the cluster and hazards are done everything else like cruise and your cd player should be simple and any other thigns you have just check the pins if its not working correctly.
go test fit and you will see where you need to cut..
pretty much everything from behind.. i did sacrifice my heat ducts.. but i said screw it and i will still have heat just not directed anywhere.. this car will be getting worked on in the winters anyways.. so deal with it or get the integra heater fans which are slimmer..
this is a comparison to my eg and my cut up dc dashes.
if you decide to leave your eg fan like i did i had to cut
INTEGRA not needed.. easier.. but cheaper not to use it.. in mycase.
this is where i cut mine.
once you just trial and error the dash into place you have to trim your door panels for fitment and then the doors will shut!
draw cut.. just keep doing it until you get it right.
now make sure your panels are warm and use a spray glue from a hardware store. and two people is deffinelty better.
and spray it back on there and yoiu will have wrinkles you cant get around ti but just smooth them out as much as you can.. and pul lit tight and hold it there until it hold and replace everything and
try it out and see if it works.. and mine worked.. and if yours didnt.. maybe i can help you.. ENJOY
i wish i would have taken more pictures but it was chilly and i was exctied to get it all finished but i got some for you fellas. PEACE>> TURBO TIME NUKKAS!!!!!!

Re: GSR/Ek dash into an EG body. the wiring and cutting ha..cutting is fabrication?
Eye spy a H series swap. Nice write up. Little too involved for me just to have a better looking dash. I saw your thread on HT. Posting in HT before HMT... I see where your priorities are.

haha well a few of my friends are on there fro back home and they never get on homemadeturbo which im disappointed in them..and i wanted to show them my car. and now my ***** really hurt.. it isnt that bad of a swap i did it out of boredom and i got the dash cluster and harness at a steal.. so why not better than spending the day inside.. it was like 40 out so i got a case and just started doing it.. my roommate and i didnt work real hard at it we had all week but we got it done in 3 days.. but like.. 15 hours.. but we moved way slow.. and not im just waiting on some parts for it.
